Met Gala – Best Dressed
The annual Met Gala is the fashion red carpet event of the year. And this year was no disappointment, with celebrities, models, designers and industry insiders looking their best.
Ashley Olsen wore a black, vintage Dior column dress with billowing white sleeves. And despite the volume of the sleeves, she manages to look sophisticated instead of pirate-inspired, opting for natural makeup and a simple updo.
Emma Watson demonstrated her maturity with a white and black one-sleeve, cutout Michael Kors dress. The dress, with her softly curled hair, reminds me of her aunt Julia Roberts’ vintage Valentino Oscars gown — and no wonder, as Watson picked it out for Roberts ten years ago.
Hailee Steinfeld, who’s only 15, has been a best-dressed list staple ever since her Oscar nomination for her role in True Grit. She looks youthful and fun in a Stella McCartney, asymmetrical hem, nude dress and Nicholas Kirkwood platform sandals.
Finally, Gisele stuns in a jaw-dropping, bright red McQueen gown. Though the dress is one of McQueen’s less fanciful pieces, it still demonstrates his immaculate tailoring skills and penchant for drama.
